Vision systems

We explore the use of imaging systems in engineering, medicine, and everyday life. Of particular note is the field of engineering, which often involves product quality control, localization, and many other tasks in automation, industrial, and mobile robotics. Current research topics in collaboration with industrial partners include localization of products before machining (e.g. detection of the position and shape of objects in conjunction with CNC and robotic systems), measurement of product dimensions (e.g. glowing forgings), control of surfaces and color defects, visual control of welding processes, etc.

One research focus is the use of machine vision in combination with deep learning. With this modern approach, systems can be trained to distinguish between non-conforming and conforming products or even to classify them according to the type of defect.

We invite interested students to work on various topics in this area as part of their teaching responsibilities (seminars, theses, internships) (contact D. Bračun).

We also invite all interested industrial partners to cooperate with us and jointly solve challenging tasks in the field of machine vision, robotics and automation.
